Title of artwork: Echoes of Childhood: Reclaiming Your Inner Child-Joyfully
Artwork created using melted Crayola Crayons. Canvas 16"x20”; $300.
There’s something magical about childhood creativity—how we once picked up crayons and let our imaginations run wild, with no fear of “getting it wrong.” As we grow older, we often lose that unfiltered joy, trading spontaneity for structure, and boldness for self-doubt. But today, I let the child in me take over. Oh, how we've forgotten how to have fun. Let me throw this in here: having fun! Whatever that means to you; can aid in your sanity 😉 being healthy. 💋
I digressed. Anyhoo, I created my latest piece, Echoes of Childhood, using Crayola crayons—those same waxy sticks of color that once filled my world with endless possibilities. The experience was liberating. No pressure, no expectations, just pure play. I let colors drip, blend, and clash in a way that felt alive, chaotic, and full of wonder.
Art has always been a healing space for me, especially after my stroke, but this piece felt different. It wasn’t just about resilience or recovery—it was about, joy and pleasure. About remembering what it felt like to create just for the sake of creating.
Looking at Echoes of Childhood, I see movement, laughter, and a fearless embrace of imperfection. It reminds me that art doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful. Sometimes, the most powerful pieces are the ones that make us smile, that remind us of simpler times when we colored outside the lines without hesitation.
Maybe we should all pick up some crayons again. Maybe we should let our inner child play a little more.
What’s something creative you loved as a kid that you haven’t done in years? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

So beautiful! I just found a heart shaped crayons someone made me from melted crayons. I love it so much! Am packing it with my supplies for France. Thanks for the extra reminder to play and return to my inner child 🙏✨🎨
I Loved your painting and the feelings behind it. Inspiration took over so I made a list of “playtime -creative- activities”. It was a fun exercise that filled pages and brought joy. As character Steve Urkel on “Family Matters” would ask, “Did I Do That?” Indeed, I did and joyfully!
