This moment as I sit here, I'm thinking about all the beautiful women whom have all worked tirelessly to bring back some normalcy after suffering from a stroke or heart attack.
We, the women I now call triumphant warriors, deserve every moment to take it easy. Take “it” slow. Take it one tiny step at a time. Go at whatever pace our traumatized brain/bodies can manage.
Handle us with love. But don't treat us as if we’re ignorant or unable to be independent. We’ll do everything we can to make that happen. Your “speed”, or expectations need to take a back seat!! This isn't about you or even who we used to be. It’s about reinventing ourselves, trying to figure out who we are now. We may never go back to the old. Ever. So, we must all figure out how this “other” version fits into the picture.
“Other Version of Me“
Today I woke up and felt like I was in a different body. With a different brain. Different thoughts. Even my visual perception was different. I realized, I'm the same, but I am also different.
Give us a break, be patient with your loved one, or get out of the way.
