Are you a patient person? Did you just answer that question honestly? I must admit, before the stroke I had some patience; after the stroke 🙄 Well, let’s just say, I’ve broken more dishes over the last 7 months, than I have in over 40 years. And, no, I did not throw them! LOL. Remember the “Wonky Hand,” article? If not, go back and read it, you’ll get a laugh from it. Anyway, I'm still patiently working towards strengthening my left arm. It's getting kind of old dropping and breaking dishes when I am in the kitchen. I’m sure my boys, hubby and son, are getting tired of having to run and create a safe space for me to walk safely from all the broken glass. Might have to childproof that kitchen!! Well, maybe not that extreme, just may need to transition to dishes that are not so easily breakable temporarily.
Focusing on painting will eventually help me to improve my mobility in and around the kitchen. 🤔
Improvement begins one stroke at a time.
Did someone say painting?Yes!! So, I have decided to start a new hobby: teaching myself how to paint with watercolor. See that picture above? Yep, I painted that. I know it’s not perfect; it’s a start. Heck, that just might be the best I can do. Time will tell.
Painting with watercolors: this new hobby will encourage me to slow down and take my time. Maybe I’ll stop breaking things.
I’m really excited about this opportunity to develop a new skill. Plus, I'll be ready year end to create holiday cards for family and friends. Spending $30 - $70 on holiday cards came to an end 2021!!! So, to all of you that I tend to snail mail cards to, listen up: 2022, your cards will be handmade! 🥰
How am I Really?
Seven months after stroke, I'm doing ok. I'm still figuring out what I can and cannot do. And with that said, I’ll focus on what I can control. 😉 Loving writing. I’m embracing watercolors. I meditate daily. Get my steps in. Might start running again 🤔 maybe. I’m good.
More paintings to come. By the way, be patient with yourself. If you know patience is not your thing, then find something you love and enjoy to help you improve your patience with yourself and others.
Joy, hope & Inspiration to You,
Michelle
